Rides,Rugby,Ramblers and Running……..

So after last nights ridiculously short blog – sorry but I was just a little bit too giddy. Well it’s not every day that Wakefield Trinity beat the supposedly mighty Leeds Rhinos and we didn’t just beat them – we stuffed em, shame I’m not a work to wind a few people up!

Anyway it was a busy day all round – Jack had his friend round for the day and we had a bike ride planned. The weather was doing it’s best to spoil our plans but we don’t give up easily in the Earnshaw household. We did however set off later than intended, mainly due to Hubby playing hide n seek with the shed keys – I mean come on, why didn’t I think to look in the peg bag for them, such an obvious place……………..

So eventually we set off, the rain lashed down and the wind blew – typical Summer Holiday Weather.Still the lads didn’t complain. Within 10 minutes we were down by the canal and they were in their element helping to work the lock to let two boats through. We carried on along the riverbank, sheltered under the motorway bridge to have lunch (summer!!) then they made a den in the woods and played rugby before heading back.We could have done without the ‘rambler rage’ on the way back – cos they really own the footpath – not!! Nearly four hours of fun all of the cost of a picnic – perfect day out, even got back in time to watch the gymnasts win a medal!

Yes the Olympics are going down well in our house, in fact I’m getting addicted, this red button thing is ace. Always something to watch. However it does have it’s downside -Jack knows how it works. It doesn’t matter what sport I’m watching Jack manages to find the women’s beach volleyball channel- and it’s not their sporting prowess he’s interested in – boys!!

So after a hectic day yesterday it’s been a much quieter day today(sneaked in a nearly 6 mile run though) -sleeping beauty slept until half ten and I managed to watch the equestrian thing (not sure what you call it) some diving, swimming and arrow firing before Jack found the sand strippers – sorry but the lack of clothing is really started to naff me off.

A great couple of days

More Olympics and an art gallery tomorrow

Bring it on

Bleurgh ……………Day 2

Thats it, I’m having the weekend off from running (till tomorrow at any rate!) I still don’t feel right, granted last nights dodgy matchday pint (or 2) hasn’t helped, but the rugby was so bad something was needed to lift the gloom. I was only having one but then I got bought another one (thanks Richard – there I’ve mentioned you again!) Yep the downside of being the only Mum amomg the Dad’s is that they treat you like a bloke – hence the pints and not halves. I’m a rubbish drinker, I really need to stick to halves……………

Mind you, I may be a rubbish drinker but at least I still know how to behave when I have had a drink – wish the same could of been said for some of last nights crowd. Good Friday games are traditionally played against our closest rivals Castleford. Both sets of fans loathe one another with a passion-  in a friendly way – sort of! Usually there’s plenty of banter and an occasional minor fracas. Last night it all went belly up. I’t didn’t help when Wakefield’s marketing team came up with the amazing slogan ‘The City is Ours’ well technically it’s Castlefords as well as they make up part of our district. Add that to the ‘Lets go North’ campaign urging all Wakey fans to go stand under the new roof – where some Cas fans usually stand and telling the Cas fans to go stand elsewhere and tensions were starting to mount. Then some muppet decided to open the bar some seven hours before kick off! Carnage! Glad we were stood well away from it. Loved the way the kids couldn’t get their heads round the fact you can’t glass someone with a plastic bottle though, boy did it take some explaining, bless em.

So back to not feeling too good. If I am coming down with something I wish it would hurry up, I really haven’t got time. My throat hurts, sort of and my ears don’t feel right and I’m shattered. I think it could just be ‘school holiday syndrome’ Lets hope it doesn’t last all of the holidays.

Some sort of activity tomorrow

Bring it on

Typical, no work means that within reason I’m free to run whenever I want and so far I haven’t managed to do it once. Yes I ran last night and Tuesday but they’re normal runs. Wednesday the snow ruined it and today……….Well today I just don’t feel right. Can’t put my finger on why but even walking upstairs feels an effort today. Grooooaaaaaannn!

My intention was to get a good few miles under my belt today and then if I do have a couple of sneaky pints at tonights game (Wakefield v Castleford) I can get away without running tomorrow. Can’t say I feel like the rugby or the pint either though – I must be coming down with something!!!

Is this week going to be my lowest milage to date – 10 miles, now this time last year I would have been more than happy with this. What a diiference a year makes. Got to say though, 30+ miles a week is defo making me a faster runner. Here’s hoping it’s a 24 hour thing. Don’t want to be slowing down any time soon!

Just Rugby today

Feeling more active tomorrow

Bring it On
