Less Arty, More Farty…………………….

So Jack’s teacher was well impressed with his ‘Van Gogh’  masterpiece( see yesterday ) – no mark for it yet, but if it’s not a level 6 I’ll be demanding a stewards enquiry!! (Pushy mum – never)  To be honest I’m amazed he got it there in one piece – the bag he took it in was nearly as big and heavy as him and art is last lesson of the day. Thankfully his tutor let him take it to the art department first thing this morning – he’s just a nice man – not quite the raving gay bloke that Jack described him as – but a ‘nice’ guy all the same.

My ‘arty’ effort, ‘Otis the Owl also went down well at school, so well that I ended up making another one for year six – a new class mascot to help us through our SAT’s next week. He’s a bit fatter than Otis though so we’ve nick-named him ‘chubbs’. Not very ‘PC’ I know, but it was the kid’s idea……. We’ve finished the charity hat now – joint effort, it took some doing – I’ve never sat in one place so long to do something!!!

Maybe it was the sitting in one place so long that caused tonights problem – trapped wind. Not good at the best of times but definately no good when you’re out running. Yep one wrong move and I’d have been flying round the five miles like a rocket – but not even 5 miles of bounding up hill and down dale shifted it. Last time I had it this bad was when I over-dosed on tablets for a suspected stomach ulcer/hernia. I mis-read the instructions and took a months worth of tablets in a week – cured the suspected illness but left me farting for England………………..Anyway a warm bath seem’s to have cured the problem – a nice bubbly bath – can’t think why!!!

5 miles done

wind free tomorrow

Arty Farty Earnshaws……………..

Never, ever in a million years did I expect to say this, but…………….. When I woke this morning I was really looking forward to playing CRICKET!!! Yep, thanks to two Sri Lankan dudes coming in to school to show us how to play for real, I’m starting to sort of like it -eek!!! Over- arm throwing today – easy when you know how. All those years I’ve wasted throwing like ‘a right girl’ now I know how to do it properly -sort of. I even made it to the last 2 in the throwing game  (why am I bragging about beating 24 kids!!) something I’d never have done when I was younger. No Sri Lankan dudes in my day though!! The only thing I didn’t understand today was ‘the crease’, I’ve already forgotten which bit of the pitch/field/green (what do you call where you play in cricket?) it’s on. Only crease I know is the one I put in hubby’s work trousers!!!

It must have been the day for having a go at new things, as when I got home I did some sewing – no really. Now sewing is something I DON’T do, never, never, ever. Sewing is hubby’s job in our house – mainly cos I’m bleeding useless at it. But tonight I’ve well and truly excelled myself. Meet ‘Otis’ the Owl, made by my own fair hands. We need him at school, he’s going to sit on a baseball hat for a homeless charity(the charity is for the homeless, it’s not the charity that’s homeless!!) called CAP – I hope they like him.

It’s definately been an arty sort of day in the Earnshaw household, Jack has finally finished his ‘Van Gogh’ masterpiece and I’ve got to say it’s pretty good. (well, be honest, I’m not going to say it’s crap – I’m his mum!)They had to do their own version of a Van Gogh painting in anyway they wanted. If his art teacher doesn’t like it she can van gogh off!! It’s taken him al week. God know’s how we’re going to get it to school in the morning though, its huge………..

Spot the difference

Arty Farty Day Done

Back to running tomorrow

Bank Holiday Blues…………….

Bank Holidays are not my favourite sort of days at all – don’t get me wrong it’s nice to have a lie in, instead of running around like a mad woman getting jobs done before heading out the door. But unless we have a definate plan – like somewhere to go or a rugby game to watch, we don’t actually do anything – not as a family, anyway. Hubby’s idea of ‘Bank Holiday Bliss’ is lounging about reading the paper’s and watching T.V, me, I can’t think of anything worse – well they say opposites attract!!!

To make matters worse, we had heeded the weather man’s warning about the non-stop rain, and left all the mundane tasks – homework, ironing, hoovering –  for today. We awoke to glorious sunshine – brill! So barring a quick dash to B&Q for some supplies to help Jack with his art homework – don’t ask……………..Van Gogh’s got a lot to answer for! We put the mundane tasks back a few hours – hubby settled on the sofa with his papers and Jack and I headed out to play- kicking practise at the rugby club – not easy when wearing Primarni Ugg boots, maybe it’s time to invest in some rugby boots!  Amazing that the minute we stepped out of the car the wind got up and the rain started……………Good job I’m an allweather type of girl. ‘

Playtime over, time to get the mundane jobs done – well we conquered the ironing mountain, the rest will have to wait – come on I had to fit a sneaky run in at some point, I haven’t had one for at least two days. It was a pretty good sprint actually – despite the best efforts of a piece of blossom to kill me – at least you can swallow a fly or if your lucky gob it back out, the blossom was going nowhere. Took nearly half a bottle of Lucozade Sport to shift the flaming stuff – gargling while heavy breathing is not an easy task!!!!!
