Forty Two Years to Find Myself!!!

All in all it’s been a pretty relaxing weekend (probably just as well as I’m heading off on a school residential tomorrow -eek!) It was also a weekend of firsts. For the first weekend ever I didn’t go to any junior rugby, not that it wasn’t on, it was. But there are things that happen that make you realise life is too short and that some things just aren’t worth it -shame it’s taken me the best part of six years to reach that point but still. So yesterday I went shopping with the hubby, proper shopping. Wandering around and looking shopping, not dashing round frantically and heading home because there’s something else to do -it was bliss.

Maybe it was my bliss like state that caused me to do something else I haven’t done in a while, I bought a dress, in fact I bought two – I’m not sure what came over me, not only did I buy them but even more shocking -they were girlie dresses!! Don’t get me wrong I have been known to wear the odd girlie dress now and then, in fact my wedding dress astounded most people. I remember going into the bridal shop declaring I wanted the plainest dress they had (I also remember my eyes lighting up when I spotted some silk Doc martens and my mum’s look of horror!!) I still to this day don’t know how they persuaded me to try the meringue number on never mind actually wear it! It’s only taken me 42 years to realise I can actually pull this ‘girlie look’ off!!!

Back to normal tomorrow

Can’t do the girlie look on a zipwire

Bring it on!!!

Christmas Past or Present……………

tree toastIt’s funny how some places are stuck in a time warp, stuck in a time gone by when flock wall paper and flowery carpets were all the rage and don’t forget the little metal teapots that dribble water everywhere when you pour your tea out. Yes, Val’s tea shop is such a place -somewhere I haven’t been in a long time but it hasn’t changed a bit in the last twenty years. Val has long since gone and has been replaced by some gay dude whose even fussier than the original owner. But if me getting my toast served in the shape of a christmas tree didn’t show just how stuck in the good old days the tea shop is then the two ladies who came in wearing their rainmates (do they really still sell those things) certainly did. Still to give the little old ladies their due it was wanging it down.

Yep- the rain has never really let up today, not really christmas weather at all.Still it didn’t stop the last-minute shoppers frantically dashing from shop to shop while the ‘Sally Army’ (I could have stood and listened all day) played christmas carols – and there’s still two shopping days left -can it really get much busier? Still, present wise, I’ve done. Just the last minute foodstuff to get tomorrow and ‘Trev the Turkey’ to collect from the butchers on Monday and that’s it – maybe it’s nearly time for a christmas drink!!

Busy wrapping Prezzies

Did I really buy so much stuff

Oh Well – bring it on.

Queen of the Hula Hoop………………Ouch!!

So despite another child free day – I am so bored when I have nobody to play out with – I never made it out for a sneaky run. I have, however caught up with some of the mundane things like ‘Asda Big Shop and ‘Mega hoover session’, yaawwwnnn- can’t remember them been listed in my wedding vows, how did it come to be my job….. Oh aye, I remember, its cos I’m a girl. Pft!!!

Anyway, today hasn’t been a totally exercise free day. I’ve been up and down our 3 flights of stairs countless times with hoovers, swiffers, mops and cloths and pushing the trolley round Asda wasn’t exactly a walk in the park – wish I had of been walking in the park – that’s what we need – an outdoor supermarket!!I’ve also practised a bit more of this dodgy contemporary Olympic number for ‘Big Dance Day’ I’m looking quite good now if you close one eye and squint a bit!! But best of all I’ve treated myself. Clothes… No.   Shoes….. No  Make-up…. No. I’ve bought a hula hoop (not the crisps). Yep, having read some of my Facebook friends reviews I’ve taken the plunge – does it work. Well after a 10 minute workout it hurts to breathe, yep it works. Six pack in six weeks, well if today is anything to go by come my holidays I’ll have a figure like Jessica Ennis but with a wrinkly face and bingo wings- Can’t have everything I suppose!!

Early blog today as we’re taking advantage of being child free and going out- grown up going out, not an 11 year old in sight, can’t remeber the last time we did that!!!

On the way to a six pack

Maybe running tomorrow – depends how many wines I have !!

Bring it on

Ps link to my Olympic Park Movie
