Day Four and a Trip Down Memory Lane

So day four dawned, the rainy weather continued, still I’d lots to do before my pre-tea (evening meal if you don’t do tea!) run. According to the weatherman it was going to brighten up. For once they were right. So with the shopping, housework and homework (the art project is hogging the front room) all but done, it was time to don my new running socks and that’s when the trip down memory lane began……

I clearly need to look more carefully when buying new socks, the first pair I put on were fab, granted they’re now grey from running through muddy puddles but they are very comfy. So I got another new pair out tonight. Slight problem -they must have been on the wrong rail. I haven’t worn knee-high socks since school -it wasn’t a pretty sight, I’m no Paula Radcliffe. Thankfully my running tights hid them from view. In all honesty I will wear them again but not when the shorts weather comes.

Next up on memory lane was my long since redundant Nike+ sportswatch (it never works) but with my iPhone doing a man impression and failing to multi task I decided to give it another go. For once it worked -I’m impressed but will it last? With the technology sorted just the run to get through. Finally after a year of non running I felt like a real runner again, good pace, no knee moaning and carrying on and my lungs were on fire -bliss. Granted it was only 1.3 miles round the block, but for the first time in nearly 18 months I think the comeback is well and truly on. Thankyou Jananthon.

Another short run in the bag.

Cycling again tomorrow

Molly or Polly……………………….You Decide!

Photos as promised.

Well, I’ll say this for Peugeot, their bikes are a hell of a lot better than their cars. Yep my ‘nearly new’ old bike is awesome and to think this time last week it was nearly outside the front door with a ‘free to a good home’ sign on it. So now it needs a name- well my cars have names so why not my bikes (Notice the ‘s’, get me – 2 bike Earnshaw!) Anyway, hubby suggested Paula – but to be fair Paula (Radcliffe) is always injured, not a good omen. But then again when fit she is mega fast – maybe that’s a good thing. I like Polly or maybe I should go with the type of bike rather than the brand ‘Molly Mountain Bike’ does have a lovely ring to it………………..Please feel free to post your suggestions!!!

So back to the bike ride – come ten o clock Hubby and I had clocked another 7+ miles, a mile further than last week in a similar time and even better my knees weren’t burning !!! I’ve always had dodgy knee’s the doctor used to insist it was growing pains – I can’t still be growing but do I still get ‘dodgy knee’ syndrome – age – possibly!!! Nowhere near as bad today though, not sure if it was the ‘nearly new’ old bike or the fact I have finally put my seat higher. I like to have my feet flat on the floor when I stop but according to ‘Ernie Wiggins’ it’s not the way to do it. Hate to admit it but hubby is probably right – Pft!!

All in all it’s been a pretty active week – I was hoping to get a run in today but, well to be honest CBA syndrome was kicking in but not to worry tomorrows another day – the day I get my running shoes back on!!!

Loving the biking

back to running tomorrow

Three Miles,Seven Miles and 30 Days to go……………

So another double run day saw me heading out of the door pre 6 a.m for a short 3 miles before work. A new month means spring is getting nearer and listening to the happy birds this morning they seem to think its already here – the daft sods, snow is forecast for next week. Still it was lovely hearing them and add that to the fact it was almost daylight when I finished this early morning running just gets better. Downside of running twice a day – I’m turning into Jack- always starving plus side I get an extra exercise free day (sort of -if you don’t count the walking) and still do the same weekly mileage.

No dodgy dancing at school today we took full advantage of the warm weather and played netball instead. First time I’ve seen a pirate play though – World Book Day anyone!! Yes its that time of year where we all dress as our favourite book character, come P.E time I was Paula Radcliffe – well she did write one……………….

Well chuffed when I got home as we’ve had our route sent through for The Olympic park Run. Only 30 days left now and the excitement is starting to grow (I can’t chuffing wait to be honest). Big question now to PB or not PB, my only chance to run in an Olympic stadium do I go for it or just take it all in? Answers on a postcard please!!!
