This Girl Can……

So, having missed out on Janathon last year due to recovering from knee surgery, I’m back for another go. I’d like to say the knee is fully recovered and I’m back to long runs – but I’m not. After a year of heeding the surgeons advice and avoiding running altogether, I’ve had enough. The gym is not for me,varying reasons, not least because when it comes down to it, I’m an outdoor kind of girl. So 2016 is the year I get my runners back on, granted my long distance days are over but I’d rather run a mile every other day than not at all. So that’s my aim – to run, walk or cycle everyday in January – bring it on.

One mile run – no stopping – it’s a start.

The Non-running Mum on the Run…………….

Out of order!!

Out of order!!

So I’m back, a new year new start and all that malarkey. Except this year is slightly different. Yep, 2015 is my first year as an official non-runner. Its not going to be easy, running has been a huge part of who I am for so long, but 2 knee operations in the space of 15 months has put an end to my running career. Still, I’m happy, healthy and have a fab family -it’s not the end of the world -its just going to take a bit of getting used to!!

I wasn’t going to do Janathon this year, however its my motivation to stick to my physio program and ensure I fit some exercise in in-between work, my degree and my science GCSE course -I think I’m going to busy!!!

40 lengths done

gym session tomorrow

Bring it on!!

And now the end is near……..Where the hell did the beginning go!!

janathon-participant-logoSo here we are again, a new year is almost upon us and yet again I’m sat here wondering where the last one went. 2013 wasn’t really our best of years, the unlucky 13 definitely struck our household. What with  illness, broken ankles, elbows, knee surgery, blown up car engines and some despicable treatment by some truly horrible people we were certainly tested. Still compared to what some of my friends have gone through and are still going through it was nothing. Onwards and upwards and all that.

There were certainly some positives -who’d have ever thought I’d finally get my dream to perform in a street dance crew  ‘Compact’ at the age of 41, (see clip below) I am back running, a lot shorter distances than before but I’m back running. I’ve got a new all singing dancing mountain bike and touch wood, so far I’ve managed to stay upright!! I’m back studying -GCSE Maths (Eek!) and a photography course and 2014 looks like it is going to be just as busy, if not even busier than ever. I can feel that ‘I need to be organised resolution’ coming on again.

Just to add to the fun I’ve signed up to do Janathon again – the jog, log and blog month. seemingly you can microblog this year -should be fun!!

So I just want to wish you all a very Happy New Year and to those who’ve had and are still having tough times. Keep smiling we’re there for you all the way. x

Another year over

Wonder what the next one will bring?

Bring it on.
