Super Sunday

So today was more about watching sport than actually doing any. Yep the world’s longest junior rugby league season in history continued (it started last March and is still going on) , not that I’m complaining, I love rugby, but I think this ‘ Summer rugby’ needs renaming ‘All year rugby’, then at least we know what to expect. Today was Yorkshire Cup semi – final day and what a day it was. They won, and won in style, the opposition turned up assuming they already had the game won – how wrong they were. So the U16′ final beckons , and I for one can’t wait. Having been there twice before with a different team, this time, win, lose or draw, I will actually get to enjoy it.
With the rugby and uploading the match photos to Facebook taking up more of the day than I intended Janathon ended up being a quick mile and a quarter walk, had it not been for Janathon I probably wouldn’t have bothered but something is better than nothing – maybe!!!!
Another ‘proud mum’ moment
Back on the bike tomorrow
Bring it on.

Dry January

Day five of Janathon and ‘dry January’ took on a whole new meaning – nothing to do with giving up alcohol and more to do with finally completing some Janathon exercise without getting soaked, covered in mud or both it felt strange arriving home as dry and clean as when I’d set off!!!  I’d like to say I’d stayed clean all day – alas no!!! The  joys of turning the class room into a Greek temple saw me covered in white paint and PVA – the temples looking good – wish I could say the same for my new work dress.

Janathon day 3 and the amazing waterproof shoes!!

OK, so maybe going out for a bike ride after 24 hours of non-stop rain wasn’t one of my better ideas, but what’s a girl to do when there’s a Janathon to complete? I knew there would be some puddles but did they really have to be THAT deep, a canoe would have been more use. Still at least I had my mega waterproof shoes to keep my feet dry……
You’ve got it, they didn’t work, but to be fair it was the deepness of the puddles rather than the shoes that caused the problems. They do usually work, but then I’m not usually knee deep in water while trying to cycle (slight exaggeration, but if the rain continues who knows). Today, however, I discovered my shoes had other capabilities – like keeping the water in – yep once my feet were swimming – they stayed that way. It was like cycling in water filled wellies, and as for my wooly socks!!! Still that’s another six miles in the Janathon bag – I’m sure the shoes will dry out eventually.
Day 3 done
Work and Janathon tomorrow

This Girl Can……

So, having missed out on Janathon last year due to recovering from knee surgery, I’m back for another go. I’d like to say the knee is fully recovered and I’m back to long runs – but I’m not. After a year of heeding the surgeons advice and avoiding running altogether, I’ve had enough. The gym is not for me,varying reasons, not least because when it comes down to it, I’m an outdoor kind of girl. So 2016 is the year I get my runners back on, granted my long distance days are over but I’d rather run a mile every other day than not at all. So that’s my aim – to run, walk or cycle everyday in January – bring it on.

One mile run – no stopping – it’s a start.

Budgie Bother…..

2015/01/img_1339.jpg
There are some things you don’t need to see at 7 in a morning – a man in overtight speedos is one of them. Just to add to the fun he was sat poolside, in line with my eyeline, and very nearly my hands as I touched the side – Urghh! David Beckham in budgie smugglers I can deal with, some middle aged jelly belly, who should know better – no thanks!!! Still, on the plus side, for the second morning in a row I swam faster than usual.
Swim done
Back to the studying
Bring it onzzzzzzz

Brrrrrrrrrrrrr

Well I was soon awake this morning, with the temperature of the pool I had little choice. It would have been really helpful if someone had actually said ‘we’ve had a power cut – it’s not very warm’ instead of letting me jump in. Still, on the plus side ( there always is one) I swam a whole lot faster than I usually do.
Swim done
Same again tomorrow (but warmer)

Busy, Busy, Busy ……

Not quite sure how I failed to miss 2 days blogging, but I suppose working, exams, University and exercise don’t leave much time for anything – hence another short blog!!
Still the exercise has continued, even if I haven’t logged it yet, I will, but not tonight, after a fab but long day at Uni, it’s time to chill with a glass of vino – cheers!!
Lots of swimming, studying and working done
Sleep- in in the morning.
Bring it on!!

An even quicker quickie!!

You’d think an inspirational speech by Rebecca Addlington would be enough to motivate me into exercise, actually it was, but a full day at a PE conference and then an evening at college means the only exercise I’ve done is walking to and from places – about a mile. Still it’s better than nothing – if only you could log talking about sport.
Back to the gym in the morning
Bring it on!!!

Just a quickie…….

A quick blog as another night of study looms, the science revision is done so it’s on to reading about a creative curriculum next – who’d be a student, the to do list is never ending.
Fortunately I squeezed in another pre work swim this morning, I’m just about managing to fit everything into one day!!
Swim done
Off to meet a real life swimmer, Rebecca Addlington tomorrow

Wahoo its Monday……That can’t be right!!

untitled (3)

Well actually, it is. Granted I don’t normally celebrate Mondays with that much enthusiasm but today was slightly different. Firstly I got on the scales, great news 2.5lbs lost -the healthy eating and exercise is paying of. Next, I plucked up the courage to check my feedback from my first assignment, I was going to leave it until after work just in case it hadn’t gone to plan!! I’m glad I checked, subject to a second opinion due to scoring over 70%, I’ve passed – I’m just a little bit chuffed, at least the ‘not having a life’ due to studying is paying off. So with all that good news I went for a pre-work swim to celebrate  I really do know how to have a good time!!!

40 lengths done

back to the study

Bring it on!!!
