Queen of Quadratics – maybe not!!

This time last week we were BBQing, having spent a few hours sitting in the garden revising, as the weekend continued the weather got better. Fab, I thought, not only did I have 2 days off looming, I had 2 child free days off. Time to make the most of the dry weather and take the bike on a magical mystery tour………….Thursday morning the rain arrived, it still hasn’t stopped!! It hasn’t been light rain, it’s been non-stop wanging it down rain – typical!!
Still, every rain cloud has a silver lining, the Asda big shops done, the house is sparkling ( well it was until hubby game home from a soggy round of golf!) and I spent four hours this afternoon swotting for the getting ever closer Maths exams. In total contrast to last week the shorts and sun cream were replaced by fluffy socks and a cardi, I was freezing, On the plus side I’m finally getting to grips with quadratics, it’s taken long enough. I wonder if I’ll remember any of it tomorrow!?!?
Hoping the weather improves.
A soggy bike ride in the morning
Bring it on!!

A Short Situation!!

The weather must be confused, day two of the holidays and day two of sunshine, just what is going on??? Not that I’m complaining, I’ve been outside all day long, painting fences and walls, cutting and re- seeding lawns and sorting out the shed – it looks like the indoor jobs will have to wait!
With the jobs done it was time for a run and due to the weather the layers were finally shed – the shorts are out!! New shorts ( well 3/4 length). Alas the new shorts only lasted a mile before I had a wardrobe malfunction – I only pulled the string to tighten the top – it came off in my hand. Great!! Over a mile from home and baggy shorts. Bizarrely, other than the odd shuffle to pull the offending shorts up, I ran one of the best 3 miles for some time. I might wear them every run!

3 miles run in 27 minutes.
Taking the shorts back tomorrow
Bring it on!

A Few Days Away……………..

So we’re back from a few days in York, and despite the freezing wind and Jack getting diagnosed with suspected glandular fever (make no wonder the poor kids been knackered all the time) the day we were due to leave, we’ve had a great time. If you have never been to York I can definitely recommend it -it’s an amazing place with loads to see and if you love all things historical, it’s a must.  Also there are loads of weird and wonderful people to watch -if I had been there on my own I would have taken loads of shots of people -maybe next time.

To be honest I was pretty disappointed with most of the photos I took in York. The thing with photography is it takes time and as a beginner -loads of practise, to get the right shot. Which is all well and good if you’ve only yourself to worry about but I really don’t think Jack and hubby would have appreciated 5 hours in the National Railway museum as I tried to get the best shot of the Flying Scotsman (whats left of it -they took it apart years ago and seem to be struggling to get it back together) so in the end I abandoned that idea and took some random shots of different bits of trains -it sort of worked. I did manage to capture a ghost in the castle museum and got a great shot of a perfect replica of my mum and dads 1980’s kitchen -gross .What were you thinking of mum and dad?!?!

A great few days away

The end of the holidays is nearly here

Boo -please don’t bring it on!!

The Return of the Rat

So my blitzing the house plans came to a bit of a halt today – a rat sized halt. Yep, Roland’s relatives are back. I did wonder why poor Fluff (the family guinea pig) didn’t seem very happy. Now I know why. Thankfully I didn’t find the rat, he pounced on my electrician (thanks Ryan) who was sorting the outside security light out – no more disco lights when it’s windy now. Anyway back to the rat -seemingly he shot out of the cage across the patio and down the old drainage system from the outside toilet-it’s getting filled in with cement at the weekend-the pipe not the rat. In the meantime Fluff’s moved back in to the kitchen and I’ve chucked two tonne of rat poison outside if that fails I’m sending for the Pied Piper.

Thankfully I still had time for a mini blitz and there’s just the hoovering to do tomorrow (I’ve mended it) and I’ve done. Just in time for the last day of half term and there’s me thinking I’m on holiday. How many weeks until the christmas holiday………….

Job list nearly finished

A couple of hours free time tomorrow

bring it on.
