Newland Discoveries……..

You can tell it’s the school holidays -it’s raining. I suppose it was too much to ask for, wall to wall sunshine all week. Still it hasn’t stopped us doing what we wanted, we’ve just had to get wet doing it. So with Jack off for a round of golf with his Grandma I took advantage of a bit of time for myself and headed out on Boris (I suppose most girls would head out for a bit of retail therapy -it’s really not my style!) It was probably the shortest ever cycle I’ve ever had, having failed to sort a dodgy tyre I was back home within 5 minutes – but needs must so I headed out on my other bike (which I hate) Morris or is it Mavis, I forgot what I called it now it’s that long since I last used it.

Still, despite it being harder work than usual, I really enjoyed it. I even braved the ‘funny fanny’ path (see Mondays blog) which was much easier as I didn’t have to worry about keeping up with hubby, who flies off at silly speed. Not having hubby also meant I got time to stop and look at some of the things I spot when we’re out and he has no interest in looking at. I just wish I’d taken my camera. First I saw a grouse (well I know it was now I’ve googled it -I’m crap at bird watching!!) then I went to look at what I was sure was the abandoned Newland Village, I’ve been trying to find it for sometime now and finally I have. I can’t believe I’ve been so close so many times. So I can go back with the camera now and have a proper look -watch this space.

Took  a few photos with my phone just to show you

Bogeys, Bogs and Binocular Boy………….

At last, a rain free day. A chance to finally hang some washing out. A chance to see a little glow of yellow in the sky that seems to have been missing for so long – well since at least last Tuesday!! You can’t beat a bit of sunshine to lift the mood on a Monday morning. To be honest I sometimes need my mood lifting on a Monday morning – the swimming brick group can be totally depressing at times.

Credit to them though, this morning they were full of enthusiasm. Unfortunately one of them was also full of snot – now I’m not normally squeamish but……………….well when one of them tried to hand me the world’s biggest bogey I was nearly sick – urghhh. Now if only perch woman ( see last Mondays post) had of been there I could have had my revenge. ‘Give it to the nice lady on the ladder’ I could have said. Oh well there’s always next week!

So with work over, it was time for a sneaky few miles in the sunshine before the lads got back from golf. A slightly off road route gave me the chance to see just how much rain we’ve had in the last week or so. Dry paths are now bog like and huge puddles (lake size puddles) have ‘Warning, Deep Water’ signs dotted around them. It was near one such puddle/lake that I bumped into ‘Binocular Boy’, literally. I’ve seen plenty of birdwatchers in my time, but never one lurking in the bushes on a bike. Was he hoping to pedal after what ever he’d seen, he was so busy gawping at whatever he’d seen in the distance he missed me by inches…..How the hell do you peer through binoculars and pedal at he same time……….?

Sounds like I wasn’t the only one to have a dodgy moment today though. Jack came back from golf with some lovely marks on his arm. How did he get them – He got his arm stuck in his golf bag – reached his arm in for his head cover then it wouldn’t come out – his arm, not the cover!!! Much twisting and turning by his dad before he was finally free – poor kid – looks like he’s taking after me!!

4.7 miles in 39:48

Bogey free running tomorrow

Bring it on!!

Bleurghaaaarrrrgghhhhhh Golf………………..

Day three of no running and it’s nearly killed me, I don’t care how rough I feel tomorrow I AM GOING RUNNING! Granted I have caught up on lots of jobs – I don’t do sitting still for very long – but I’m getting seriously bored now!! Even spent some of the afternoon googling historic buildings in Wakefield- another outcome of me running in different places – I pass things and I have no idea what they are – still beats googling brands breeds of sheep – just!!!

My boredom has not been helped by my Hubby watching his favourite sport – Golf. Paint, watching, like and dry are words that spring to mind. Even Jack is sick to death of it and he plays. It’s fair to say I know the rules fairly well now – I’ve watched it that many bleeding times – it still doesn’t stop me taking the mick. ‘Albatross’ Hubby has just shouted – ‘where?’ I said.(I know its getting it in ,in 2, on a parr 5 but then its not funny!) Then there’s their names, who the hell calls their kid ‘Bubba’ or ‘Tiger’ and as for Davis Love the 3rd – where’s one and two gone?!?  And the comentators, how to make a boring sport more boring yaawwwnnn. A real birdie chance – you don’t say, oh the winds blowing left to right, makes a change from right to left. Bored! Bored! Bored! I tell you my running shoes are at the door. Tomorrow I’m out of here………………

Last Rest Day

Playing Out tomorrow

Bring it on
