Is Tha Lost………

20140414-213416.jpg

For the regular readers of my blog you’ll know how good I am at sort of getting lost, the hunt for new cycle/running routes often takes me into the unknown. I always find my way home-eventually!
In my defence today I wasn’t technically lost – I knew where I was, but the paths seemed to have moved in the months since I was last here! Thankfully, as I stood pondering which path to take, a nice farmer man pointed me in the right direct – sort of. “Is tha lost?” He asked in a true Yorkshire accent, “wi yer eadin” So I told him I was wanting to get back to the canal path. “Well tha,s off reight road” he said. Which roughly translates as ‘you are going in the right direction’. None too helpful with more than one path to take. Still I made it back.
It would have been lovely cycling in the sunshine were it not for the swarms of mozzies that dive bombed all the way round, seemingly we are to be over run by mozzies this year – great news when mozzies love you. Foreign travel is a nightmare for me, I’m no sooner off the plane and the little bleeders have got me – I once spent a fortnight in Ibiza looking like I’d got club foot, I couldn’t even get my flip-flop on. And now the vicious bleeders are heading here – fab!!!
So that’s the first day of the Easter Hols done. I’ve had a lie-in, cleaned the car and started listing the things I need to do this holidays – a fortnight is not longing enough!!!

Loving the sun
More of the same tomorrow
Bring it on.

Can’t quite Put My Finger on it!!

Funny-Animals-Holidays-Holidays-HolidaysQuite how I have managed to go over thirty days without a blog, I’ll never know. But it was a bit of a shock horror moment when I realised I hadn’t done anything since the 9th of March! I’ve even had complaints over the lack of it. (There you go Alison, you’ve got a mention, again!!) So with the school holidays finally here, I promise to make more of an effort – it’s not like I’ve anything else to do……………

So just what has been taking up so much of my time? I can’t really put my finger on it. Don’t gt me wrong, the Maths GCSE wheel continues to turn endlessly round. What with Pythagorean triples (!!) construction and loci (!!) and SURDS (thought it was a soap powder at first, but then I remembered it was surf!!) my heads spinning. Still on the plus side the swotting is paying off. 100% in my last two exams is not to be sniffed at, if only they were the real things and not mocks. So now I’m in a dilemma -do I stick to the foundation paper with a pretty much guaranteed C pass or do I chance my arm and take the higher paper, decisions, decisions.

Talking of decisions, Jacks been busy picking his options for year nine, not easy at the best of times, even less easy when you don’t really know what you want to do when you leave school – well apart from play sport, all day, every day. A couple of days out at local colleges did help, within the space of 24 hours he’d gone from “I’m leaving school at 16”  to “Can I go to Uni”, apparently becoming a P.E teacher (lets hope that knobhead Michael Gove has buggered off if he does!) sounds quite good. Eek, we better get saving!! To be honest, in the end it wasn’t that hard to pick, he had four options and there were only four things he wanted to do -sorted!!

We’ve finally upped the weekend cycling mileage and are now up to 20+ miles each Saturday morning,I do sometimes feel Hubby is after cashing in the life insurance with some of the dodgy paths we seem to bounce along (and I mean bounce -having a saddle wedged up your lady bits is no fun -believe me!!) but I am starting to get more confident doing it. Granted I have to talk myself through it- so if you see some woman pedalling through the woods constantly saying pedal, pedal, pedal, oh shit, pedal pedal, f**k. Don’t worry it’s not the local loon -its just me!!

Looking back, since the ninth of March Ive cycled 178 miles and run about 45. Not bad really considering how busy I’ve been doing things I can’t really put my finger on!!

Easter is upon us

Time to rest and recover

maybe not!!

Bring it on!!

Sunshine Sunday!!

sunSo after a week of tossing pancakes, dressing up as a giraffe and building robots out of recyclable materials I was ready for the weekend – a time for rest and recuperation. Shame I never got round to doing either. I’m blaming the weather. At last the miserable weather has gone and the sun was out -do you really think I was going to stay in!

Yesterday we finally got back out on the bikes for a 14.5 mile cycle through the woods and various paths that went nowhere -it all adds to the fun. We would have gone further were it not for the fact that my knee looks like it’s about to give birth to triplets -lord knows what’s up with it now but it’s going to have to do one, I really haven’t got time!!

Today was rugby day, all day, outside in the sunshine what more can a girl ask for -well a house work and ironing fairy would be nice but you can’t have everything.

A lovely weekend

Hoping for an easier week

Bring it on

February 1st My First Day of Rest………….Whoops!!!

restAt last, after 31 days of non stop exercise, it was time for a rest, even better, it was a Saturday -sleep in time!  Ok, Ok I own up -I failed. I’m blaming the weatherman. It was supposed to be chucking it down and blowing a gale. It wasn’t, the sun was out, the bike was calling. Come nine 0 clock we were pedalling through the local nature park, it was bliss, muddy, but bliss.

Just a short one we said, 13 and a bit miles later we were back, it could have been worse we very nearly carried on to twenty -sense prevailed in the end.

I would like to say that I then laid on the sofa all afternoon and chilled ………………………………………………………………………

Ok you got me, I didn’t do that either. I’ll try better tomorrow -Honest!!!

13 miles cycled

120 crunches

100 squats

2 staircases hoovered

3 rooms cleaned

beds changed

A rest day tomorrow

I’ve sweat blood  and tears and got covered in mud

I’ve been out in all weathers, like a true runner should.

I’ve cycled, squatted, pushed up and crunched

I’ve walked and I’ve planked, and boy have I munched!!!

So now Janathons ending and now I’m so much fitter,                     janathon-participant-logo

Feeling A Little Flat……….

s1So there I was, cycling gear on, cycling bag packed with my work stuff, waterproofs at the ready -just one problem – I had a flat tyre. Joy. Would the tyre re-inflate -no. Did I have time to start fannying about finding what was stuck in the tyre -no! Did I have time to put my spare innner tube on -no! Was I annoyed -yes! I had no option  but to get changed and put the bike away. Day 29 of Janathon looked like being a run day -something I didn’t really want to do today with hubbys man-flu still threatening to attack, but I can’t give up now.

Thankfully work lifted my mood, we had an author (Tommy Donbavand) in today, he was in to inspire the kids with their English ( I love English) and despite suggestions that he wasn’t very good -he was amazing. The kids loved him and to be honest so did I. So much so that come the afternoon the poor kid I was sat next to must have ended up with a dead arm cos I kept nudging her with answers to give. Whoops!

Once home I opted for a quick mile run and despite wheezing like a good un I managed to do it in 8 minutes and 30 seconds, not bad to say I stopped to take my jacket off -maybe I don’t feel so flat after all.

A quick run

30 pushups

A nice five miler tomorrow

Bring it on

Five Outfit Earnshaw……

Today seems to have been less Janathon and more a ‘howmanytimescanIgetchangedathon’ I make no wonder my wash basket is overflowing and my hormonal washing machine is playing up……

6:30 shower than pj’s – breakfast
7:45 cycle gear – cycle to work
8:15 work clothesuntitled
14:30 trackies on for P.E
15:30 cycle gear – cycle home
16:30 trackies on to replace muddy cycling stuff!!!
18:00 running gear on.
19:30 trackies and top on over running gear to keep warm while I waited for Jacks rugby training to finish.
20:30 back in the pj’s…….
Still, I’ve cycled twice, done my exercises and run five, yes FIVE MILES, my longest run since knee surgery and I’m so happy I really don’t care how much washing I’ve created!!!

5.1 miles done
A short run and less outfits tomorrow
Bring it on!!

Day 22 and a Case of Bloggers Block!!!

writers-block cartoonDay 22, just how did we get here so quickly , the end of Janathon is in sight which is a good job really as I’m running out of things to write about. I’m sat here with bloggers block just what can I tell you about. I cycled to work and back without incident (a bit of a rarity for me!) My 30 day ‘no pain, no gain’ challenges are done and I really don’t want to bore you with my maths homework. I could tell you how tired I am -Tuesdays always take it out of me and the extra strong Starbucks coffee I had to get me through 3 hours of college really didn’t help the situation – I spent the night dreaming I was being chased and woke up feeling like I’d run a marathon -I wonder if I can log that for Janathon!!!

Another 5 miles

Another run tomorrow

Bring it on.

F F F F F freezing……………….and a little bit busy!!

20140121-214634.jpg

I’m freezing, I’ve spent the day freezing. The cycle to work was freezing, work was freezing, the wind chill on the cycle home was freezing, college was freezing, I’m so cold I could pass for a fish finger, well maybe not but you  get the idea!! Still, I love the great outdoors, whatever the weather which is a good job because when I left college it was wanging it down, I may be rowing to work not cycling tomorrow!!

5 ish miles cycled

90 squats

14 push-up type things

work done

3 hours of ‘nth term’ at college

I love never having a minute

Bring it on!!!

Such an Easy Start to the Week………Maybe Not!!

cartoonSo much for going to work for a rest, the class teacher was off meaning I had the little darlings to myself all day -fab. To be honest, I really enjoy covering but Monday is probably the worst day to cover,it’s dinner money day, there’s no previous work to follow on from and  the kids take half the day to come round from the weekend. Thankfully they were slightly more switched on than usual today and we had street dance third lesson, all in all it wasn’t a bad day, I survived but I am hoping grumpy chops is back tomorrow (Only joking if you’re reading!)

To recover from my day as teacher I was straight out for a run when I got home, only a short one but it was a good run all the same, fastest pace I’ve done in a while. I’m well chuffed. Maybe these thirty day challenges are starting to improve my core, but do they really have to hurt so much!!!

1.7 miles in 14:34 minutes

70 situps

90 crunches

42 leg lifts

1 minute of planking

60 squats

Maths (sequences)

English (Writing a Prayer)

Street Dance  (looked a tit)

ICT (doddle -though if the boss is looking on it was hard!)

Back on the Bike, work and college tomorrow

Bring it on!
