Super Sunday

So today was more about watching sport than actually doing any. Yep the world’s longest junior rugby league season in history continued (it started last March and is still going on) , not that I’m complaining, I love rugby, but I think this ‘ Summer rugby’ needs renaming ‘All year rugby’, then at least we know what to expect. Today was Yorkshire Cup semi – final day and what a day it was. They won, and won in style, the opposition turned up assuming they already had the game won – how wrong they were. So the U16′ final beckons , and I for one can’t wait. Having been there twice before with a different team, this time, win, lose or draw, I will actually get to enjoy it.
With the rugby and uploading the match photos to Facebook taking up more of the day than I intended Janathon ended up being a quick mile and a quarter walk, had it not been for Janathon I probably wouldn’t have bothered but something is better than nothing – maybe!!!!
Another ‘proud mum’ moment
Back on the bike tomorrow
Bring it on.

The ‘No Blog’ blog………

Well, so much for the school holidays starting, giving me a chance to catch up on the blogging! Here we are, week five and I still haven’t started (well I have now but you know what I mean!) Any way, let’s get the excuses out of the way first.

There was the end of term madness (it gets more chaotic every year), we went to watch ‘Le Grand Depart’ in Yorkshire, I bust my knee (again), spent three weeks on crutches and am waiting to see the consultant (again), he’s not going to be happy! I ran (hobbled) a colour run while on crutches -photos to follow at some point. I’ve had lots of physio, and can now cycle on the flat (which is hilarious as Wakefield is as hilly as hell), but I smiled sweetly and promised to cycle on the flat. I spent a week writing a personal statement, I’ll tell you why if it pays off. We had a fab holiday in Ibiza (more to follow), a fortnight with no internet was bizarre to say the least and then I started to decorate the bathroom, which in true Dawn-style, turned into painting the whole house (apart from the cellar), by Friday I couldn’t move but the house looks fab!! So finally, I’ve got some spare time. In between the hunt for school shoes, when are shops going to realise that not every school kid wants to look like a TOWIE reject, and sell normal shoes, finishing my R.E planning (what do I know about Buddha!?!?) and heading to London to watch the Challenge cup final ( I hate to say this, but, ‘Come on Cas’) I promise to catchup.

How has the holidays managed to pass so quick?

Promise to get the blog back on track (again)

Bring it on!!

A whiter shade of Pale…………

Don’t worry, I am not about to burst into a Procul Harum song (still no idea what they were singing about!) it’s just I am no longer grey looking, more washed out, I’m finally over the worst (PLEASE) and on the road to recovery. It’s a good job really, I’ve got cabin fever. I don’t do sitting in one place for any length of time (about 30 5 minutes). Still at least feeling a little better meant I could potter, so here’s a nice little gallery about what I’ve been up to.

Yep, I ironed, slept, booked some train tickets, slept, revised, took some pics of the birds I spotted on the feeder, slept, got bored, revised again, slept, did some R.E planning for work, slept. It’s hard work being ill!!

On the mend

I’m sure the ends in sight, should be able to start Juneathon soon

Bring it on!!!

The Wrong sort of Run…….

225393_168219363237585_1514274_nSo the first day of Juneathon (jog, log and blog for a month) and things haven’t exactly gone to plan. To be honest it’s been a week of things not going to plan, after all the lovely spring weather we’ve had Spring bank arrived and brought with it rain, lots of rain. Not that I mind going out in the rain but it never let up, the walks, bike rides and time playing out with my camera didn’t happen. Still on the plus side (every cloud has a silver lining and all that!) I have got plenty of revising done for my ‘getting ever close, eek, maths exam.’ Hence the complete lack of a blog -well that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it!!

Come Friday the weather picked up and with Jack out footballing with his mates I had a chance to catch up on some me time and play out -well I would have done except that didn’t go to plan either, I was doubled up with stomach pains -joy!! Little did I realise that things were going to get a whole lot worse. I wish I’d never rang the out of hour number for a doctor, before I knew it I was in an ambulance and on my way to hospital, seemingly the symptoms I had (I won’t go in to them they were gross!) flashed up emergency on the operators screen. Still I’m home now, I’ve been struck down by some dodgy bug, hopefully the medication will calm things down soon, at this rate I’ll look like anorexic twiggy come my summer holidays -who needs weightwatchers!! Just my luck that my very first run of Juneathon is the wrong sort of ‘run’ I will catch up when I’m better -honest.

Not one of my better days

Hopefully these dry crackers stay down..

Bring it on – as oppose to back up 😉

Fairy Fun in the Sun

So the sunshine continued as we headed to Manchester ( sun in Manchester – there’s a novelty!!) for the second day of the Magic Weekend. Not a magician in sight, though we could have done with one. Seven super league games in one weekend and guess whose team was the worst??? Yep, the not-so-mighty Wakefield Trinity let us down again, you don’t mind loosing if they put the effort in but it’s a tad annoying when they don’t.
Still there was plenty to take our mind off the crap rugby, life- size crayons, super heroes, bears, nuns, men in pants ( very tight pants -yuk!) and a bunch of fairies. Alas, I knew one or two of the fairies, in fact I knew them all – I’ve got to say they made a lovely bunch, not their usual rugby league wear but they seem to be taking a liking to this dressing up malarkey- rumour is they’re going as traffic cones next week………..
A great weekend
Nearly the school holidays (again)
Bring it on!!

Back to work In The Morning……….Nooooooooooo!

Just a little bit of mud.....

Just a little bit of mud…..

So that’s it, the holidays are over, just where did those two weeks go? The list of holiday jobs is still a list of jobs, I didn’t really do any of them. It’s the weathers fault, I’m not going to stay inside when the sun is shining, I didn’t stay inside on the days it wasn’t shinning either but I’ve got to blame something. On the plus side the cars clean, the garden walls are painted, the fence is painted, the windows are washed, the bird feeders are re-stocked, the lawn is re-seeded, well it was until the birds ate the seed, they clearly didn’t understand me as I pointed to the feeder! It’s fair to say that I’ve been busy. I still managed to find time to get the bike out but what a difference a couple of days can make.

Thursday it was a sunny day by the canal/river, a lovely, if somewhat muddy, ride out to Dewsbury, except I took the wrong turn and ended up near Mirfield. Never the less I did, as I always do, and found my way back. twenty miles done. I then, not on a purpose honest, ended up running 8 miles with my friend, we just sort of forgot that adding a different bit on would make it a longer run -whoops!! Still I was pretty chuffed, I haven’t run that far in a long long time. Friday I couldn’t walk, my legs felt like they weren’t mine, I had no control over them, I gave them a day off. Yesterday, in complete contrast to Thursday, it wanged it down, back to cycling in a mudbath. Two and a quarter hours of splashing through freezing cold puddles, not another cyclist to be seen (can’t think why) and just as we got back the sun came out!!

Today, in-between trying to pretend I haven’t got a hangover, I’ve been getting the work/school stuff sorted -boo! why can’t the holidays last forever? Can’t complain though -its only 3 weeks and 3 days until the next one. Is it worth going back………..

Over 1oo miles cycled

20 miles run

Going back to work for a rest

Bring it on!!

Sunshine Sunday!!

sunSo after a week of tossing pancakes, dressing up as a giraffe and building robots out of recyclable materials I was ready for the weekend – a time for rest and recuperation. Shame I never got round to doing either. I’m blaming the weather. At last the miserable weather has gone and the sun was out -do you really think I was going to stay in!

Yesterday we finally got back out on the bikes for a 14.5 mile cycle through the woods and various paths that went nowhere -it all adds to the fun. We would have gone further were it not for the fact that my knee looks like it’s about to give birth to triplets -lord knows what’s up with it now but it’s going to have to do one, I really haven’t got time!!

Today was rugby day, all day, outside in the sunshine what more can a girl ask for -well a house work and ironing fairy would be nice but you can’t have everything.

A lovely weekend

Hoping for an easier week

Bring it on

A Solar Situation…….

Wednesday and I’m contemplating a glass of wine, a large glass of wine. It’s been a long day, made even longer by the visit of a ‘not a clue what I’m on about’ Solar salesman.
To be fair, it was kind of my fault that he was here, I don’t usually fall for those that ring up to sell you stuff, but this time I did. Well who wouldn’t, Solar panels fitted free of charge as long as you return unused electric to the National Grid, it sounded plausible! It would have been if we had a roof the size of the street!!
Things didn’t bode well when I opened the door to a salesman the same age as my dad ( no offence dad) i.e. a tad old, just to add to the fun he told us he only started on Monday- joy!!
Things didn’t get any better, he didn’t know how to work his laptop, wish I’d never shown him, we had to endure a promised ‘only ten minute’ power point that lasted half an hour and the poor guy kept mixing up his transformers, inverters and his figures. Apparently 5.4 is half of 14.9…..
It got worse, hubby, who is hopeless at hiding his feelings, began to tut, sigh and stomp about, the endless spiel about how the panels, that are made in Wales unlike those cheap Chinese ones, but come from Japan, didn’t need sun only daylight and how they wouldn’t cost us a penny – yeah right!!
So after much pressing of buttons it seemed we could save a fortune, as long as we only turned our electric blanket on during daylight hours ( he really said that!!) and only used all other appliances prior to sunset!!
The nail in the coffin came when it became apparent it was going to cost us another £200 a month over the next 25 years to pay for the free panels. The salesmans reason for this -our house doesn’t face the sun. At which point hubby’s voice went up an octave as he chunttered about the not ‘needing sun’ panels and I had to retreat to the kitchen, crying with laughter. We’ll stick to mega fuel bills from now on!!!
What a day
Dressing as a giraffe tomorrow ( no really!)
Bring it on!!

Just where does the time go………

11375825-smiling-clock-face--red-alarm-clock

What with half term and all I’m not really sure how I’ve failed to blog for the last fortnight, as apart from the demolishing of wardrobes, re-decorating a bedroom, putting up new wardrobes (well hubby did) sorting stuff to go back in the new wardrobes, trying to de-clutter (big fail), swotting for and taking two (yes two) mock exams and a three-day trip to London. I haven’t done that much really!! Still I seem to have some time now. Granted it’s Sunday evening, I haven’t done any of the jobs I wanted to do this weekend and another busy week at work is looming (pancake races, World Book Day and a day and a half with no class teacher) but hey just what would I do if I wasn’t so busy………

I’ll try to blog more this week

Really I will

Bring it on

Whats Normal Anyway?!?!?!

Finally, feet up time, a day of rest, er I’m not very good at this resting malarkey. Still a couple of mile walk in the sunshine doesn’t really count as exercise (only when its Janathon) and I did lay in till 9. It wasn’t all work work work (apart from the walk, washing, making Sunday Lunch and looking for new wardrobes) I’ve done very little – honest!!

the purpose of my walk was to;

  • get my teenage son, who has had no rugby all week, out of the house.
  • get some photos of another abandoned building I’ve found
  • use my son to stop me being scared on my  own in said abandoned building -yep I’m a wuss!!!

All in all it was quite a succesful trip and definitely worth another look at some point. Even the teenaged one enjoyed it. So much so that he declared ‘it must be so boring to have a normal mum’. Mmm, I’m sure there’s a compliment in that somewhere!!!

A nice walk done

120 situps

170 crunches

90 seconds of planking

50 squats

30 push-ups

and a lovely bit of Shin beef.

work tomorrow

Bring it on!!
